Hi LnWeaver,

Joseph gave you an excellent answer to your question.

However I have another option, If your dryer vent is the flexible type and is fully accessible, the best solution is to simply replace it.

Even the best brushes can't get all of the lint out of the duct, and often will often push lint back into the dryer if you use it from the exterior end.

In most cases you will have to remove the duct to clean it properly.

A new flexible dryer duct will cost you less the the cleaning brush!

Most store charge upwards of $20.00 dollars for the cleaning brushes and a new dryer vent with clamps will cost you  about $10.00 at your local Home Depot.

So be safe, replace the duct and be sure to clean out the dryer outlet when you install the new one.

Hey LNWeaver,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the community!

Typically, you can start with using a dryer vent brush to get as much lint within the brushes reach.

There's also more professional dryer lint removal kits. Shown below, they are more effective than the brush.

Let us know if you have any further questions,
