Hi ras440,

Thank you for your question and welcome to our community.

Before you begin building your block wall, there are a couple of thing you will want to determine before you start your construction project:

  1. How long and how tall will your block wall be?
  2. Will this wall be load bearing?
  3. Make a plan of your project so you can determine the amount of materials you will need
  4. Dig the foundation for your footer.  Your footer should be 2 X the width of your brick.  An 8 inch wide brick will need a footer 16 inches wide and at least 12-18 deep or below your frost line.  Check with your local building codes for complete information.

Once you have made your plan, you will have  a better idea of how much material to buy.

Here is a great Home Depot "How to" Video that will give you some very good information on how to build your block wall:

Be sure to take a video of your project and share it with the rest of the community in our Project Library under "I Did This".
