How do I fill holes in kitchen cabinets left after I moved my hardware?

removed old kitchen hardware to install new hardwaret to a different location on cabinets.filling holes with spackling paste.

i am having a problem getting the fill evan at the top of hole at the surface. i am using fine steal wool to smooth the surface . but i either get it to high or too low.what am i doing wrong?

Hi Bobt13,

 

We offer at the Home Depot wax pencils which are designed to fill small holes or scratches on cabinets and furniture.

 

You simply rub the area with the pencil, and wipe away the excess.

 

The pencils are colored to match different finishes and are reusable.
