How do I install a Saddle valve to PCV pipe?

Want to Install a furnace humidier and the supply line is pcv pipe. Whats the procedure to attach a saddle valve if possible?

You likely have CPVC (it's kind of a cream color vs. white for PVC).  Saddle valves aren't  good idea in general because inevitably they leak and in some areas are actually prohibited by code.  A traditional saddle valve is meant for copper or steel pipe and may crack plastic.

 

I would suggest installing a real shut off valve.

Thanks for the response.  Now I found out that it's Pecs lines not pvc. That makes a saddle valve even a worse idea.

 

Looks like we have to cut in a valve even though there is not much working room. Guess we will figure it out.
