Welcome to our community Gunner!

My name is Christine and I work in the paint department at Home Depot.

Before you can apply any primer to the paneling, you will have to clean it and degloss it with either Trisodium Phosphate or a liquid deglosser. These will break up the sheen on the paneling and allow for maximum adhesion of your primer.

If you have grooves in the paneling that you would like to disappear, put spackle in each groove and sand it smooth.

Next,  you will apply a latex based primer. If you are going from a darker color to a lighter color, a premium latex based primer will be most ideal.

After the primer has dried, paint the paneling in the paint color of your choosing. :)

If you have any more questions, please let us know!
