Paint

How do I remove paint from an indoor brick fireplace?

The entire brick wall is painted and hideous.  Is there a way to remove the paint using a method that will not have excessive liquid or other material that would damage my floors?

crt,

Unfortujnately, if your desire is to return to natural brick, the goal is just not obtainable. The pigment from the paint has penetrated deep into the pores of the brick. No liquid stripper or even sandblasting will completely remove the paint. Some residue will remain.

Perhaps a new paint color would be less objectionable to you. A glaze could also be put over the paint to highlight the textures of the brick and add interest.

Hope this has given some insight.
