Hello mrkarnot!

The ceramic bulb holder can be replaced one of two ways:

1) Replace the light kit; removing the existing light from the fan base and replacing with a new light kit; or

2) Replace the single ceramic fixture with a new one ... typically found in the Electrical Department on the aisle with switches.

The easier repair is the first.

Purchase a light similar to the existing light, remove several screw around the fan base that hold the light in place, and disconnect the electrical wires which operate the light.

Simply reverse the process to replace the light.

On a scale of one to ten, where ten is most difficult, this repair would rate a three.

Should you choose to remove and replace the ceramic light socket, expect a more complicated repair that will rate a seven.

If you take both time and cost into consideration, replace the light will be the easiest and overall least costly repair.

As with all electrical repairs, make certain to turn the breaker off before beginning.
