How do I secure and large heavy headboard to the wall?

My headboard shiftss, as a result the fram begins to loosen causing an annoying sound everytime I ajust in the bed.

I understand how you feel, I can't stand it when I'm in bed and it squeaks while I'm trying to sleep. My suggestion to you, rather than fasten the headboard to the wall why not use lock washers & lock nuts to secure the headboard to the bed frame. This is what I did and noise went away. 


Before you put on the nut you should use a washer, more specifically Lock Washer. A lock washer has a split in the circle (see arrow below), when you tighten the nut it will press against the washer and flatten it, thus add pressure to the nut. 





Lock nuts have a nylon insert (see picture below), this insert makes it hard to thread the nut onto the screw, so you cannot finger tighten the nut, you must use a wrench. Once you have added the lock washer & lock nut it will not loosen unless you use a wrench to remove it
