It's already up. don't want to have to take down whole fan just to flip the blades? Thank you!

Hi summerdog,

Thank you for your question and welcome to our community.

How you take off the blades of your ceiling fan will depend on the make and model of  your ceiling fan.  There are some that have a screw mount that is only accessible from the part of the blade that is facing the ceiling and others that have a spring type mount but that will also be facing the ceiling.

Start by removing the globe if it is covering the part of the blades that are attached to the motor.  This will give you a clearer look at the fastening point.  If your still have your installation instructions refer to them for added information. You may also be able to look up your make and model online and view a pictorial depiction of how your blades are attached to the motor.

They way the blades are attached is not uniform and will vary with each make and model of the ceiling fans.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

In addition to what Rick mentioned, the housing of the fan may get in the way of unscrewing the blades.  You'll probably have better luck unscrewing the entire blade assembly from the fan housing, then reversing the blades.  If there is a light kit, that will likely have to be removed first.
