How do I waterproof a concrete basement wall? As well as hang a plywood ceiling?

I have a small space in my basement that I am trying to convert into an art space for myself.  It was already framed I just need to waterproof the concrete wall and hang a ceiling.  I don't want a drop ceiling, i'd much rather use plywood or sheetrock.  Any suggestions would be helpful please. Thank you.

Hello VenusH!

Waterproofing the concrete basement wall will be a snap with either DryLok Masonry Waterproofer or Behr Basement and Masonry Waterproofer.

Either can be tinted a limited number of colors or applied white.

And both penetrate into the concrete surface to seal out moisture.

Apply with a stiff bristle brush or a three-fourths inch nap roller cover.

NOTE:

My only concern is that your existing framing boards may be touching the wall ... preventing full coverage of the wall and leaving several uncoated areas that may leak.

Take time to carefully look at the area to be waterproofed.

Ideally, you will see exposed wall that is not impeded by the framing boards.

FINALLY:

Making a plywood ceiling is possible.

However, sheetrock, mud, and joint tape make this project much less expensive and these products are designed for your application.
