How do you install a framed oval medicine that it will open properly?

We bought a flush mount oval medicine cabinet...however if it is mounted flush it will not open correctly. Do we need to have it mounted out a bit...won't that look strange?

Hi Peggy-P,

Thank you for your question and welcome to our community.

One of the most important parts of a flush mounted oval medicine cabinet is how the door is attached to the inset portion of the medicine cabinet.  If the hinge is mounted too far to the inside, then the over hang part of the oval door will hit the wall when it is opened up.

Which model do you have?  Here is a link to one of the Pegasus 24 Inch recessed oval cabinets.

It may also be necessary to trim part of the studs to make room for the inset portion of the medicine cabinet.  This type of cabinet is not designed to be mounted in between the studs.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.
