Install & Replace

How do you replace the light bulb in a Hampton Bay AL383-WH?

I don't know how to get the globe down on the Hampton Bay Hugger 52 in fan. I have tried turning the globle counter clockwise but it won't move. Help!

Hello Sammul73 and thank you for joining The Community.  We are glad that you are here.

First, for your safety, disconnect the power by turning off the circuit breaker or removing the fuse at fuse box. Turning the power off using the fan switch is not sufficient to prevent an electric shock.  If you will be using a ladder, place it on a level surface and be sure to have a helper spot you.

From the installation instructions, it appears that you may need to gently unscrew the thumbscrews on the glass holders to remove the glass shade.  Replace the light bulb with a 60 W or CFL equivalent medium base bulb.

Position the glass holder back against the light fixture then gently tighten the thumbscrews by hand evenly to the glass. Do not over tighten.  Test the light for proper operation after you reconnect the power.

If you need additional information, check out Chapter 8: Installing the Light Kit in the Owner’s Manual or call the Hampton Bay team at -877-527-0313 (option 2).  The UPC for your ceiling fan is 792145-353379.

Best wishes on your project.
