Hey Micemsn,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the community!

Building a covered entry for your home is something than can be done, but unfortunately, we'll need a lot more information from you.

Building a porch or installing even a small covered entry is something you'll need to plan out yourself with basic measurements to get an idea of what you want.

Also, depending on your budget, personal tastes and skill set will allow you to get the covered entry you want. Depending on what city or area you live, you may need to have a building permit pulled. Also, any electrical work needs to be addressed during the installation as well if you decide to place any lighting or receptacles there.

A good start is conferring with a local and licensed builder who can give you specific tips and if the covered entry needs to have a permit for it. This can go a long way to ensure what is built will be safe and last a long time.

Research that as well as any designs you may have, and you can always bring a materials list or images down to your local Home Depot. The folks in lumber or at the Pro Desk can get you squared away with what is needed to complete the project.

Let me know if you have any additional questions,
