Hi byrdman28,

Always remember: Safety First!

Personally, I prefer to work on the mower with all 4 wheels on the ground. Locate a smooth, clean surface to do the service, such as a carport or garage floor that you don't mind lying on. Raise the deck to its highest mowing position so that you can reach under it to access the blade bolts.

The first challenge is how to stabilize the blade to keep it from turning. The Arnold Lawn Mower Blade Removal Tool will fit any mower and will keep the blade from turning.

With the blade secured, determine what size the bolt is that holds the blade and get a socket that fits properly. Use a Breaker Bar to help turn the socket. This bar will be useful because the blade bolt is as tight as the lug nuts on your car and the added length will give you leverage to break the torque of the bolt loose. Turn the bolt counter-clockwise in the regular, right hand thread direction.

If you want to raise the mower, use the MoJack Mower Lift to safely and easily lift the front end of the tractor for mower deck access. Never lift a tractor from the rear to avoid engine oil issues.

Raising the mower will help you to gain access to the bolts if you have an impact wrench that can make quick work of blade bolts.

Thank you for asking. Be careful and stay safe.
