How to connect ceiling fan with light and a remote

how to install a ceiling fan with light and remote.  Had just a fan there before. has black, white, green and red coming from ceiling. coneccted the black to black,s white to whites, green to green, and black and white to black and white, but have red from ceiling left. fan works but only one bulb works at a time in the light. if take one light bulb out the other will work.

Here is a diagram of typical remote controlled ceiling fan wiring.

From the ceiling box to the receiver in the fan you only need a black, always on power, a white neutral and a green or bare wire ground.  The red wire in your ceiling box is likely from a light switch that has not been used since the first fan was installed.  The black-and-white, (striped?), wire I do not understand.  Below the receiver you will see a variety of colored wires, some yours may have and some not.  The receiver that came with your fan should have the right number and color of wires to match the fan connections.
