How to install a lazy suzanne corner base cabinet

We are redoing our kitchen and we are trying to install our corner base cabinet.  We were told it needs to be 7" from the wall, and we have no cabinets on either side.  How are we supposed to have this cabinet supported?  There will be a stove on one side, and a dishwasher on the other.

Hello VA2TX and welcome to the Community.

First I would like to direct you to the National Kitchen and Bath Association Design guidelines.

Within in those guidelines it state that:

No entry door should interfere with the safe operation of appliances, nor should appliance doors interfere with one another.

Dishwasher Placement: Locate nearest edge of the primary dishwasher within 36 inches of the nearest edge of a sink. Provide at least 21 inches of standing space between the edge of the dishwasher and countertop frontage, appliances and/or cabinets placed at a right angle to the dishwasher.

If you have the dishwasher on one side of the Lazy Susanne cabinet and the stove on the other, the doors are going to interfere with each other.  Loading either one would be limited because of the proximity to the corner.

If you still want to arrange these components this way, you would have to build out a framework structure that would mount to the 2 walls.  Then attach the lazy Susan cabinet to that build out frame work.

The Home depot offers cabinet install services by qualified insured installers. You could talk to a Kitchen design specialist at no charge for more information.

Thank you for your inquiry.

The kitchen was planned out and order by Home Depot, and the guidelines were never mentioned to us.  As far as having someone install them, I'd have to wait for them to travel 3 hours from San Antonio.  I guess I'll have to attempt to build a frame that fits!  Thanks for your help.

Hello VA2TX,

To support your counter top in this type of application, there is a special counter support cleat that you can order through the Kitchen designer at your local Home Depot.  You would install the cleat on both walls that the counter will be attach to and the counter itself.

Sorry about the delay in sending this additional information.
