What is the easiest way to remove parquet flooring in a foyer in a house that was built in 1986?

Hello lisam0930, welcome to the Community.

So you want a new look for your foyer.

Since you are removing the parquet flooring from your foyer you may be able to access and expose the edge by removing the threshold or transition strip from the perimeter of the floor.  If this is not possible you may have to make a starting cut.  This is accomplished by using an angle grinder or setting the depth gage on a circular saw to the thickness of the parquet flooring, somewhere around 5/16” depending on the manufacturer of the flooring.

Some manufacturers of parquet flooring used metal reinforcement strips to bond the small pieces of wood together. Parque flooring is usually glued down but if installed over plywood the flooring could have been nailed down like hardwood.  When making your starting cut use an inexpensive  demolition blade that is rate for metal in your circular saw to make your starting cut.

Now that you have made a starting cut,  you will use a Floor scraper and elbow grease to pry up the parquet flooring.

I would like to see you project before and after so please send a post.
