How to repair a chip in countertop?

Here's a question that comes to us via the Apron blog

I have a chip in my counter top on the front edge. This makes me definitely know that it is not granite. How do I repair this?

What's the word for Eddie?

I have had the same situation on more than one occasion...

What I did was match some countertop caulk to the existing color of the countertop and apply as little as possible to the area with a putty knife. If it is on a corner, the apply the caulk so that the putty knife can follow both edges and smooth out.

You may even use a wet Q-Tip to blend in the outside edge of the repair.

Sometimes you will find various colors in squeeze tube form in the kitchen/bath dept. Or in the flooring dept.
