Flooring

I have remodeled my kitchen and have an area approximately 12x12 that is hardwood meeting the area I

I am installing roll vinyl in this area covering 16x20. Need something approximately 1/8 inch thick to make the floor level with no creases where the two areas meet. What would be best to put down and least expensive.

I like to use the 1/8 inch hardboard.  it comes in 4x8 sheets or 2x4 panels and is very inexpensive.

You may want to use construction adhesive to install it - so that it's uniform and doesn't buckle. Liquid nails works great, but you may have to place several heavy objects on top while it is drying.
