Hey Leonard40,

Thank you for your question and welcome to the community!

I searched for your over-the-counter GE Profile microwave and found the owners manual for it. In this post, I'm going over the light bulb that shines down onto the cooktop, and not the one inside the microwave itself. In it, I saw the diagram shown on page 27, the text goes as follows:

1. To replace the cooktop light/nite light,

first disconnect the power at the main
fuse or circuit breaker panel, or pull
the plug.

2. Remove the screw from the side of the
light compartment cover and lower the
cover until it stops.
3. Be sure the bulb is cool before
removing. Break the adhesive seal
by gently unscrewing the bulb.

4.Screw in the new bulb, then raise the
light cover and replace the screw.
Connect electrical power to the oven.

Now while the manual calls for screwing out the bulb, your light bulb actually snaps out, and can be easily replaced.

The bulb is a fairly common replacement. Unfortunately, I can't tell if it is a GY6.35 or G8 base bulb. It definately is a 50 watt bulb, though.

Bring it into your local Home Depot, and we can get you the right one. Let us know if you have any additonal suggestions regarding replacing the lamp for your microwave.

Cheers,
Joseph
