IC or non ic

I purchased a lithonia lighting 4 inch recessed matte white LED baffle kit.  The housing states ic/non ic rated....so which is it?  Can I install this where there is insulation?

Hey joleary.

IC simply means that it can come in contact with insulation. Not all cans are rated to come into contact with insulation but more to be installed in ceilings, between living spaces where there is no insulation. You can use a IC/non ic fixture for both but you can't use a non-IC fixture where there is insulation.

Your fixture is for both!
