Install: Closet Door

Currently our daughter's room has no closet door.  No tracks, nothing. We need to start from square one with this. I was thinking ( wishing) wood, perhaps. Unstained... I'd do that myself to save cost perhaps. My husband's more for the cheap noisy aluminum.

Iwas wondering what we're going to have to do to get one up.  There's carpet in the room and that's why this is perplexing to me (affixing the bottom track to the ground.)

Hello mommyg318 and thank you for joining The Community!  We are glad you are here.

Congratulations on tackling this great project.  I am sure that your daughter will appreciate the closet door (especially when she has to clean her room!).  I personally have found it easier and less expensive to install bi-fold doors rather than a sliding door set.

I randomly selected the JELD-WEN 30” x 80” 6 Panel Molded Primed Bi-Fold Door as shown:bifold door.jpg

Made from wood by-products, this door is primed and ready to paint.  It requires finishing on all 6 sides.  The track and hardware are included for convenient installation.

Since this sounds like this is a new project for you, I encourage you to go to the store and talk to the specialists in the millworks (doors and windows) department.  Be sure to take the measurements for the opening so they can help you select the best door for your space.  They can also discuss the carpeting situation with you and help you with any other concerns you have.

Best wishes and please keep us posted on what you select.
