Install heavy chandelier

Hi. I want to hang a crystal chandelier approx 150 pounds on the foyer. Could you please let me know what size of wooden beam can support it? Thanks!

Hello HTran, and welcome to the community!

The average electrical box can handle up to 50 pounds, so you need a Ceiling Fan Brace, it can handle up to 150 lbs. You may be able to use your existing wiring provided it can handle the additional wattage, or if your using LED, there should be on issue. Make sure you verify the weight of the chandelier that it does not exceed the 150 lbs maximum. Clicking on the colored link above will also show you a video. The bracket fits through a hole in the drywall and sits between the ceiling joists, as you turn the shaft the outside edges press the spikes into the wood joist.
