Is 0.118-inch thick plexiglass sufficiently strong for building a pizza display case?

Hi, all --

Building a pizza display case for a pal's restaurant. The case will be 36 inches long, 16 inches wide, and 16 inches tall. There will be a bottom shelf (the base of the case), and a middle shelf (halfway up, at a height of 8 inches). Assuming that there will be two full-size pizzas resting on each shelf, will 0.118-inch (just under 1/4-inch) plexiglass be strong enough to hold the weight without bending/warping, assuming I create supports along the 36" length?

Thanks very much!

Sorry -- meant to say "0.118-inch (just under 1/8-inch)".

I don't think .118" (1/8") plastic is sufficient for the span and weight of a couple of pizzas.  I'd up it to 1/4".

Hi Staz,

I think your buddy should purchase a proper display case made with real glass, if the public thinks he is scrimping on the display, they will wonder what he is scrimping on with their pizzas!

If a business is to succeed it has to look and be professional.
