Hello acsavage and welcome to the community.

There is two ways to install composite decking.  The first way is similar to installing pressure treated decking by surface screwing it down with special screws made for composite that will reduce or eliminate mushroomiong.

The second method is to use hidden fastener on grooved edged composite deck boards.  Here is a link to installation instructions from Timberteck  illustrating both methods.  You can also view installation videos.  The basic guide lines apply to most types of composite decking.   If you are installing perpendicular to your joist the spacing is 16” centers and with diagonal installation you would space your joist on 12” centers.

Thank you for your inquiry.
