Build & Remodel

Is it possible to build a roof under an existing roof?

My roof needs replaceing. I would like to change the contouring of it and i am one to believe that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. DO you think it would be possible?

Hi Littleo,

Its not a matter of mind over matter, it's practicality, safety and building codes.

You will need to remove the existing roof, before any new roof of a different pitch can be constructed.

In addition the city will dictate via the building code what type and style of roof you place on your home. For example in high fire danger areas, wood shingle roofs are not allowed.

Consult with your city building department for their requirements before starting your project.

A job of this magnitude requires the expertise of a professional roofing contractor.
