Is it possible to paint vinyl siding and vinyl windows?

I had a new house built and want to change the color of my exterior front door, shutters, and exterior windows.  The builder installed almond color windows instead of white. Is this something a homeowner can do or would a professional be needed?

The short answer is yes, vinyl siding can be painted but you going to take a surface that requires little to no maintenance and make it one that will require regular maintenance.  You should use paint specifically approved  for vinyl siding and you're choice of colors will be limited to mostly lighter colors (darker colors absorb heat and may cause the siding to buckle).

Good luck!

Today's quality 100% acrylic house paints, such as Behr Premium Plus Exterior Ultra, can go directly to vinyl siding without a primer. As Adam444 says, NEVER go darker than the original color. Vinyl siding expands greatly when warm.

As moisture is not a problem, as with wooden siding, if good adhesion is gotten, you will have many years of service. The main concern in getting adhesion is that the siding be clean.
