Hello gijanny,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the community!

Yes, you can paint your kitchen cabinets black and make them look ok...provided you know the steps to make them look great  and last a long time.

We sell kits by Rust-Oleum called Cabinet Transformations that work well for darkening up any cabinets you may have. Click here to find out more information about this great product.

Another option would be to clean the surfaces of the cabinets and then apply an oil/shellac-based primer. Once you do this, the top coat of high-quality black paint will adhere to the surface.

Make sure the paint you use is a semi or high gloss, due to the high usage of the cabinets. In fact, it wouldn't hurt to use a semi-gloss exterior grade paint so that it will hold up over time.

As long as you do either of these options, you can get the final look of the cabinets you really want.

Let us know if this has assisted you, and please update us with your decision.

Hope to hear from you soon,
