Will LED bulbs that are the same light output as 40 watts work in my range hood and refrigerator?  My range hood has a high and low light switch on it.  I guess I wont be able to light my lava lamps anymore with the 40 watt A-15 bulbs or any bulb now!

Hey Wilby1977,

Thanks for your question and welcome to the community!

As long as the A-15 or A-19 LED light bulb you choose will fit in your range hood and refrigerator, it will work.

A-Line Bulbs

Just make sure the LED bulb you buy is not only the proper shape, but that it is dimmable. Since most are, you won't have too much to worry about; the 2 level switch is essentially a crude dimmer.

Incandescent phase outs were relegated mainly to the A-19 shapes (the basic light bulbs). However, since A-15 bulbs are slightly smaller (the 15 refers to the glass being 15 eighths of an inch diameter), these are not going to be affected right away by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.

Let me know if you have any further questions,
