Lucky Bamboo Transplanting?

We got a Lucky Bamboo which came in a small ceramic container.  Does it have to be transplanted, or can it be kept in the container that it came in?

Hey JRbytheC.

As long as the plant is 2 to 3 inches away from the sides of the pot then you will not have to repot it. These plants are grown in soil and they are grown hydroponically in pebbles and water. If it is in soil then just make sure that the soil is moist but not wet. Typically once a week is recommended. Water it with bottled spring water or if you are using tap water, make sure the water has sat out for 24 to 48 hours to let the fluoride and chlorine evaporate, as this plant is sensitive to those chemicals.

If it is growing in only water, then change out the water weekly to prevent bacteria. Again, use water that has sat for 24 to 48 hours. If you need to repot it, be sure to use a good draining potting mix. I would use the Miracle Gro Cactus soil when repotting it.
