MP Global Acoustical Recycled Fiber Underlayment with Film Holding in Place

When installing this material under a laminate wood flooring do you need to staple it in place or not?

Hello again Noble1,

This type of underlayment, as well as any we carry, just lays down on the existing subfloor without any fasteners. The only cause for concern in terms of installing it is just to put down a seam tape between any underlayment meet each other on the floor. This can be done with clear carton sealing tape.

Once the laminate planks above it are installed correctly and locked into place, the underlayment is locked in as well. This is why any floating flooring system, save for the transition pieces and quarter round molding, never needs glues or fasteners to keep it down.

Let me know if you have any additional questions,

Joseph
