Masonry Question- stone veneer on preexisting concrete stairs

Hi, there! I'm hoping to get some guidance re: refacing concrete stairs. My husband and I currently have a 64" wide 2-step concrete stair to our front door. I would like to add 8" to the landing on either side and resurface it with stone veneer and bluestone treads. I would also like to shorten the stair riser from 2 steps to 3 steps. I'm wondering if there is any way for us to do this without tearing out the original concrete slab? Any advice/ ideas would be helpful!

Hello EmilyC8585and welcome to the Community.

The only way to change 2 steps into 3 steps would be to tear them out and start over.  You will have to have additional space to accommodate the third step.  It is important that the height of each step be consistent to reduce trip hazards.  If you choose to do that you should be able to modify them in many ways including the bluestone treads.

Thank you for your inquiry.
