Hi Hermine,

Thank you for your question and welcome back to our community.

The best way to clean the moss off your metal roof will be to:

  1. Scrub down the roof with a long handled bristle brush This will help to pull out the moss by the roots.  Be sure to brush downward to avoid damaging the roof.
  2. Use the mildest moss removal/moss killer you can find to start with before going to a stronger product.   Check with your local Home Depot for product recommendations.
  3. After the roof has dried, inspect the areas where you had removed the moss to make sure that it has actually been removed.  Use a spray bottle or pump sprayer to apply more moss killer on selected areas.
  4. Be sure to check the condition of the roof while you are checking for moss.  This would be a good time to make any repairs that are necessary.

Regular maintenance will keep the moss from becoming a nuisance in the future.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.  Be sure to take pictures or a video of your moss removal project and share them with the rest of the community in our Project Library under “I Did This”.
