Miss Kim Lilac

Let me introduce the lovely Miss Kim, the demure Lady Lilac. Miss Kim grows slowly and deliberately in a polite compact way, the leaves on Miss Kim’s branches are small and defined with wavy edges, she does not invite powdery mildew into the garden, Miss Kim is mildew resistant!  The branches are dense with layers of ruffled leaves…all of this before the flowers are even mentioned.

The blooms on a Miss Kim Lilac are composed of tiny, pale, purple flowers clustered together in a conical shape, the blooms hang on for a long time, and the fragrance of the blossoms is intoxicating.

Miss Kim will flourish in a sunny, well-drained location; add a little lime to the soil at the time of planting, lilacs like sweet, alkaline soil.

Miss Kim should be pruned once the flowers fade just to shape and keep the shrub in order, and to promote next year’s flowers.

Stop by your local Home Depot to check on Miss Kim, the plant is done flowering now you will see the spent blooms, pick one up and plant it in your landscape…… next year when the spring breeze begins to blow and you catch the sweet aroma of the lovely Miss Kim, and you see her beautiful blooms, you be so happy that you did!
