Paver sidewalk

How do I know which Paverstone product to use as a base for my pavers for my sidewalk and which one to use for the top to fill in the gaps of the pvers?

Hi Bob,

Pavestone offers paver base to form the base layer, beneath the stones. This product contains larger stones, or aggregate, to increase the load bearing capacity of the surface stones.

0.5 cu. ft. Sand Paver Base (Step 1)

Dig and tamp the area where the pavers are going to be installed. Add Paver Base and tamp again.

Add a minimal layer of Leveling Sand to the top of the base. Rake this layer level with a 2X4 that is long enough to span the work area.

 48 lb. Leveling Sand

After the pavers are installed, brush in a layer of this same sand into the cracks between the stones to lock them into place. If gaps persist, add more sand to the top and sweep in with a broom.

Notice that the bags are labeled as "Step 1" and "Step 2".
