This plant originates from the middle east, which is where it gets its great drought tolerance. This plant can tolerate poor quality soil as well, as long as it is well drained. The beautiful grey foliage is just like the velvety ears of a lamb. This low growing perennial groundcover spreads profusely by reseeding from its purple spiked flowers. Foliage grows to about 6 inches while flowers reach 12 to 18 inches tall. Remove flowers to prevent spreading. Leaves are said to be "natures band-aid", having antiseptic and anti inflammatory properties.
