Plumbing under sink

Is there a way to install a garbage disposer under a sink with 2 p-traps in a situation where the drain pipe in the wall is too high.  We replaced our sink and the new sink is an under mount and is deeper than the previous one.  Urgent help needed.

Hi Milind,

Drain systems use gravity to operate and trying to move water up hill always poses problems. The only solution would be to have a plumber lower the drain line or replace the undermount sink with a top mount model.

Hey Milind!

Inside the wall, the drain extends down.

You'll need to open the wall, remove and cap the higher port, and then install a port low enough to accommodate the disposal p-trap.

Not terribly difficult.

I'd say about an eight on a one-to-ten scale where ten is most difficult.

However, you might choose to hire a plumber unless you have great DIY skills as well as proper pipe cutting tools.
