Preparing to tile a basement shower

I am preparing to tile a basement shower.  2 walls are interior and studs are good.  3rd wall is exterior wall of a poured concrete foundation wall.  Wall has no leaks or moisture.  I bought enough hardibacker for all 3 walls, but probably only need it on the two interior walls.  I am using drylock on exterior wall and plan on putting thinset and tile directly on the wall.  Is this ok?

Hello Jonezy and welcome to the Community.

Custom Building Products the manufacturers of Versabond Thinset and other tile setting products suggest prepping the wall with Red Guard waterproofing and crack preventing membrane.

The installation of tile to any paint products is not recommended and will void Custom Building Products warranty for the tile and its installation.  I contacted the technical support team for Drylok and they agree that you should NOT apply tile over their product and that a membrane product like Red Guard should be used instead.

Thank you for your inquiry.
