Hi Joanne6972,

Removing Venetian plaster is a very dusty and dirty job, so prepare the room buy removing

all the furniture pictures etc, and covering anything else left in the room that can't be moved.

The easiest way to remove the plaster is to sand it off, use a random orbit sander with 80 grit paper to sand down the plaster to the base wall. Use a sander with a dust collector if possible.

Seal off the room from the rest of the house to prevent the fine sanding dust from reaching the other rooms.

Be sure to use a good dust mask and safety goggles as the dust will be flying everywhere.

Move the sander in a circular pattern to prevent grooves or score marks on the wall.

Sand near base boards and corners by hand with the same 80 grit paper.

Once you're finished resand the wall with 120 grit paper to smooth out the surface and remove any remaining plaster.

Thoroughly vacuum the room and wipe down the walls with a damp cloth to remove any remaining sanding dust before priming and painting.
