Removing Bali cellular blinds for painting

Home Depot installed Bali cellular blinds within the past year. Now, we need to remove them long enough to paint the window trim. There does not appear to be an easy way to release the blinds from the mounted clips. Please help. Thanks.

Hello Doc Smith and thank you for joining The Community!  We are glad that you are here.

There is a little “technique” involved when removing cellular shades.  The shades “pops” into the mounting bracket and is supported by a small clip.  In the diagram below, you can see how the shade pops into position and the supporting clip is located under the action arrow:

You will need to reach in behind the fully collapsed shade (shade fully closed and tight at the top), gently push back the clip and release the shade.  It should be pulled “up and out” from the mounting bracket.

You can find a copy of your Bali window treatment installation guides on the manufacturer’s website located here: http://www.baliblinds.com/install/index.jsp

Please keep us posted on your progress and best wishes on your project.  Happy painting!
