Removing Large Roof Antenna Safely

There's a very large roof antenna on the small house we just bought.  Birds love it and their poop scatters over a large area.  Besides being unsightly, I'm concerned for our baby's health.  It stands a good 8-10 feet above our 1-story house and has 3 long guy-wires keeping it steady.  It's been there at least 12 years and probably twice that!  We shouldn't just cut the guy wires, loosen it and push it over because its bound to damage the house or hurt someone.
I hope someone can advise us  Thank you.

The good news is that while unwieldy, most antennas aren't very heavy and it's a good idea to remove one you're not using so that it doesn't fall and damage the roof or house in a storm.  If you aren't comfortable working on roofs, then it would be a good idea to just hire someone to do the work for you.  Otherwise, you'll probably need two people.  One to hold the antenna and the other to cut the guide wires and whatever else might be holding it in place.
