Repair Concrete Step

I have concrete stairs in the basement that are crumbling and water is coming in when it rains.  Can anyone give us step by step instructions on how to repair the damaged steps?

Hello Janean_Bill,

Thanks for your great question and welcome to the community!

We get concrete repair as a topic quite a few times here on the site. Luckily, I have a video as well as step by step instructions already up for you to view!

As for what to use, I would recommend using Concrete Patching Compound by Quikcrete. It comes pre-mixed and should be the right size to cover up your concrete stairs. Make sure that the steps are clean and free of dust before applying the product. Below is a picture of this product in action and its specifications. To view the step by step video  you can view it here

For seeing step by step instructions instead of a video, you can view our how-to page here

If you have any small cracks or crevices, they can be filled up with concrete filler sold in caulk tubes as well.

Hopefully with this infomation you should have your steps repaired in no time flat.

Any further questions please do not hesitate to ask,
