Here at The Home Depot, we have a new string head from Ryobi. It fits the entire Ryobi family of trimmers along with other brands including Homelite, Toro, John Deere, Cub Cadet, and others. This is the easiest bump feed head to reload. Let me show you how.
This video was extremely informative, and I now feel like I can do this repair by myself.
Thank you HD for such a great, informative narrator for this topic, and also for adding the community section to your website. I will check back often.
Very Helpful, will come back often.
This is awesome...I cannot tell you how many times I have struggled with replacing the green string.
Very Helpful!!!
Hey guys, I wanted to pop in here to post a link to Home Depot's buying guide for string trimmers.
It covers different options including fuel type, types of line, and types of drive.

Too bad HD didnt do a string replacement video for Ryobi's cordless trimmer. Supplied instructions are useless. This baby's going back. Too bad too since the battery life, balance and edger design points were spot on. I've bought Ryobi cordless drills to only have them phase out the batteries so often I got where I couldnt find replacements. This is the last rodeo with their products.
Coach Dave thought that LawnRanger's video was great and I wanted to add to it. This video show's the other most common type of trimmer head. If this doesn't clear up your questions, feel free to ask away.

This is kind of like your Leesburg VA store.... not an associate to be found. :smileymad:
I now realize this is an old thread, but you just featured it on your facebook page.
Howdy Dan,
The trimmer replacement head I used was the "Echo U-turn" Model # 99944200900 replacement trimmer head. It's easy to install and as you can see by the video, super easy to restring.
