Replacing Window Wells

I purchased a home that is 20 years old, and am going to get the window wells replaced.  They are made of red wood, and are rotting. What type of material would be the best to use for new ones?

Thanks!

Hello ALP, and welcome to the community!

There are 2 types of window wells made today, metal & polycarbonate, with polycarbonate being the best choice in the long run, metal will eventually rust. Most manufactures that make the wells also make covers to match.

These come in different shapes depending on your needs. The one shown below has steps built in for an emergency exit.

The window wells are secured to the home on the outer edges.

You can also purchase them in sections, so you can make them as deep as you like
