Replacing glass pendant shades

Lighting experts,

I have six pendant hallway lights that have glass shades I'd like to replace. I was able to remove one shade to measure the fitter, and was surprised to find that it does not seem to be a standard size. I believe the fitter diameter is 1-5/8". I can't find any replacement glass shades that are neckless and of this narrow diameter. Can a larger fitter size be used, and if so, how much larger can it be? It is held in place by an aluminum ring of about the same diameter that screws in. Thank you.

Hello madgerds, and welcome to the community!

I scoured our website and there seems to be a handful of the 1-5/8" fitter shade sizes available. I found this assortment as well as the 3 links below. Also, if you do a Google search for 1-5/8" fitter glass shades it should turn up quite a few. In order to use the more standard 2-1/4" fitter you would need to modify the fixture/socket with a new glass retaining ring. If you can bring one of fixtures into the store, we can see if it can be modified.
