Roofing, Tarping, and Insurance

Is it true that tarping a roof will cause damage in all cases? (from the nails in the roof required to secure the tarp). If so, can the  nail holes or individual shigles be repaired or does the entire tarped section need to be replaced with new shingles?

I personally have not heard that yet, but it does make a good point.  

 

Below are some "alternative" methods for securing tarps:

just click on each picture for more information.

 

 

 

Ball and bungee cords can be threaded through the grommet holes in the tarp and attached somewhere other that the roof.

tarp clips are great if you need to attach a cord to and area that doesn't have a grommet hole.

Lastly, a good strong rope will help as well.
