Rustoleum Cabinet Transformations De-Glooser not Deglossing

I'm in the process of using the Rustoleum Cabit kit to paint over thirty year old oak kitchen cabinets that were stained, then presumably shellaced or perhaps polyurethaned for the gloss effect and protection. I've been over my two test doors twice with the de-glosser and scrubby from the kit, and there's still gloss on the doors. Is there any alternative to sanding?

Welcome to our community BigJoeRice,

Thank you for your question! I called Rust-Oleum about the problem that you are having with the Cabinet Transformation kit deglosser and the lady I spoke with suggested doing the deglosser a 2nd time. You mentioned that you had applied it a 2nd time on some of your cabinets and it still had a sheen. I mentioned that to her and she said that even if it looks shiny, it has dulled the surface enough for the bond coat to stick.

If you have any more questions, please let us know!
