Rustoleum Countertop Transformation - Metal Trim

Hello.  We have a thin strip of metal trim on our kitchen counters that covers a gap between the countertop and wall.  Will Countertop Transformations cover this?

Hello and welcome!

I have a couple of concerns with the metal strip;

First off, the strip is not part of the countertop but rather is part of the backsplash panel (holding it in place). So, if you were ever to remove the panel and replace the backsplash - there would be an unfinished gap under the metal strip.

One of the steps to the Countertop Transformation's is for the surface to be sanded down smooth. This would be very difficult to do over the strip and will result in a heavy texture left on the top of it.

 I am not positive that the product will stick well to the metal, but it might stand a chance if you rough sand it beforehand.  I recommend either stopping at the metal strip or removing the metal strip before going forward.  I have used this product several times and can assure you that it will look awesome when completed.
