Sealing an outdoor table thats been distressed

I am painting about 10 outdoor tables that are wood.  I want to paint and then sand some of it back to distress it and give it a worn look.  I'm not sure what products to use.  If I use an exterior paint and sand it back a little will I need to seal it?  Should I use an interior paint and then seal it? If I do that I need something that won't yellow it. Help!

If you bare the wood, it should be sealed. An exterior water based urethane wood be the best in terms of not yellowing, although, a certain amount of yellowing might add to the aged, distressed look.

Also, if these tables are being regularly used, especially for food service, the urethane coating would make clean up and sanitation easier.
