Hello soozy and welcome to the Community.

Yes, you can switch a right hinged door to a left hinged door.

The first way to make your door swing in the opposite direction, you need to attach the hinges to the opposite jamb. This means making new mortises for the hinges and covering or painting over the old ones. You must also drill a hole and mortise for an inset for the strike on the opposite jamb and cover up the old one.

The next option and I believe the easiest way to reverse a door is to remove the jamb, reverse the sides and re-install it. This eliminates the need for mortising new hinge and strike insets, but it means the door will swing from the opposite side of the wall. If you want the door to swing from the same side, you will have to change the positions of the hinge and strike insets and reverse the directions of the hinges and knob on the door. Installing new side jambs to avoids the need to cover old mortises.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Hello Soozy, and welcome to the Community!

When reversing the swing of a door, I wouldn't recommend flipping the door, moving the bottom to the top, but if you flip the hinges, as you see in the pictures below, you only need to remove a small bit of wood, and the door knob is still in the same location.
